Emotionally Survive the Apocalypse – Quarantined and going crazy? Don’t worry. We’ve got some tips for you…
⭐ 1. Put down that phone!
All this time at home can definitely make you more attached to your phone. It’s a whole entertainment system, and it’s a great way to stay connected to loved ones and up-to-date on what’s going on. BUT – we all need a break sometimes. Turn your phone off or on airplane mode for at least one hour a day (not when you’re sleeping). Trust me, you’ll thank us.
⭐ 2. Create structure.
Staying at home all day can lead to hours sunken into your couch and days in the same sweatpants. Just because you’re not leaving, doesn’t mean you can’t create a schedule for yourself. Get up at the same time every day. Do yoga for 30 min a day. If you are now working from home, you especially need to set some routines for yourself. When your work “day” is done, CLOSE THAT LAPTOP! Set those work hours for yourself, and do not work outside of them!
⭐ 3. Set a routine for your kids (or pets).
Not only do you need structure, but your dependents do too (even if that’s just your plants). Pets should be fed around the same time every day. Your kids should know that they can’t watch TV if they’re doing schoolwork. Bedtime is still at 10PM every night – whatever your normal routines were, they should still happen (modify if you need to). We all need some ground rules, and life will be easier for everyone once you set them!
⭐ 4. See this as a break from the hustle and bustle of normal life.
We all need time to take a step back from our everyday lives. Here’s your chance! This is a great time to sit back and breathe – to self-reflect. Recenter yourself and feel grounded. Have a check-in with yourself. Do some journaling. Take some space to look at where you’re at in your life. What is bringing you joy? Where do you have room for growth?
⭐ 5. Connect with your loved ones.
Miss your momma? Facetime her! I know she’d love to see your face. Miss your friends? Set up a Google Hangout! We’re all in the same boat of isolation, but we don’t have to feel alone. Check in on your friends. Make sure their mental health is okay. Call someone up, and tell them you’re thinking about them. Email your cousin an update. Send some snail mail to your friend in a different city! It’s nice to feel supported. And we definitely have the time to do that these days.
⭐ 6. Fill your home with music.
It can be tough being locked down by yourself or with your roommates or partner or family. So for a nice change of pace, turn on upbeat, fun tunes to fill the rooms inside your home. Who doesn’t love a dance party?
⭐ 7. Plan some fun activities!
When you are not working or reading the news, plan activities with those who are house-bound with you. Have a game night! Movie night – make some popcorn. Build pillow forts! Let your inner-child sing. Think of this as an adventure and make time for fun. Watch a hilarious comedy special, play some charades, practice different accents! Anything to take your mind off of what’s going on.
⭐ 8. Do some cleaning.
It’s easy to let the dishes pile up or let the number of cups in your room multiply. Do some cleaning. Trust us, you won’t regret it. While you’re at it – sanitize all your door knobs and lightswitches. When you clean, you can physically see the results of your work. It feels satisfying and accomplishing.
⭐ 9. Dive into a series.
Whether it’s a TV show, a movie marathon, or a book series, it’s always a great feeling to binge something. It takes your mind off of what’s going on in your life and places you in a completely different world. It’s the perfect diversion!
⭐ 10. Try a new hobby.
Have you always wanted to try your hand at painting? What about penning a novel of your very own? Is there some creative avenue you’ve always wanted to test but never did? Now is the time! Paint, write, dream – let that creativity S H I N E !!!
⭐ 11. Practice self-care!
It’s easy to get stuck worrying about your loved ones and the state of the rest of the world, but take a moment – are you taking care of yourself? Are you showering daily? Have you been diligent on paying your bills? Take the time. Get your finances in order. Make sure you’re sticking to your hygiene routines. Have a spa day! Try your hand at meditation. Have a glass of wine! Make sure you’re prioritizing yourself and your needs.
⭐ 12. Don’t put your love life on the backburner.
If you’re in a relationship, make sure you and your significant other spend some meaningful time together. If you’re quarantined together, make sure you spend time together with intent. It’s easy to let time float by on the couch, but make a date! Cook dinner together. Do the 36 Questions That Lead to Love.
If you’re not together during quarantine, get creative! Watch a movie “together.” Schedule a video chat date! Have phone sex. Don’t neglect each other’s needs and be creative if you can’t physically be together.
If you’re single, get on those dating apps! There has never been a better time – trust me, everyone is now on them since it’s one of the only ways to meet new people. Cyber first dates also relieve a lot of regular first date fears!
⭐ 13. Remember to laugh.
Share all of those funny memes. Call your best friend for three hours and belly laugh. Dive into an internet hole of Vine compilations. Watch a hilarious movie. Laughing and smiling boosts your mood and burns some calories!

We hope this “Emotionally Survive the Apocalypse” list helped spark some ideas on ways to keep the positivity up! You’ve got this. Take it a day at a time. We’re all in it together.
Dodge has said a few times now that he will play a life for a bit (not using /die) and then just quit. He tries to justify such on the basis of personal emotion that happens for a very, very short amount of time. You said this week in the update notes:
jasonrohrer wrote: This game is supposed to be about a bunch of different things: the deep mystery of a trans-generational civilization (who built all this, and why?), being a small part of something much bigger than yourself, the philosophical concept of the veil of ignorance (where you can't control or predict what situation you are born into), and trying to get as close as possible to what death might actually feel like (saying goodbye forever to the people that you have grown to love)
Well, quitting on the game like Dodge does is very, very far from being in a state to what death might actually feel like. Suicidal people just don't act that rashly on the basis of personal emotion. He also doesn't give up on a life for reasons of playing the character.
On top of that, by not trying to have one hour one life experiences over and over again, Dodge signals that he has an interest in 30 minutes one life. Or 40 minutes one life. Or 20 minutes one life. Of course, the game is one hour one life, implying one hour one life experiences as the preferred goal for players to attempt to achieve when they can. Even the solo survival challenge also implies surviving to old age as *at least* a minimal goal that all players would ideally have for main servers.
One Hour One Life Apocalypse Removed
Dodge has also further demonstrated that he doesn't have an interest in one hour one life experiences, by speaking positively of the apocalypse idea, an idea which in the end is uninteresting, because it means fewer one hour one life experiences for players, because of conditions for many of them that they cannot overcome. And make no mistake, Dodge often wants fewer one hour one life experiences for players who are not Eves.

For those reasons he just doesn't belong on the secret forums, because he has entirely different goals than trying to make positive (at least) one hour one life experiences for players.
